---

A nationally recognized leader with an 18-year career in law enforcement, CHRIS GIBSON serves as the Executive Director of The Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program and as the Chair-man of the National HITDA Director Committee. In 2018, Chris received the Edward Williams Lifetime Achievement Award from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

The Oregon-Idaho HIDTA program works to reduce the impact of illegal trafficking and use of drugs throughout Oregon and Idaho by identifying, disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking and money laundering organizations. In 2022, their enforcement initiatives seized over $2.16 billion in illicit drugs and conducted 2,695 arrests.

As Polk County addresses the challenges of illicit fentanyl, Chris offers valuable insight into the world of drug enforcement and community-based solutions to drug crises. The West Valley Foundation is excited to share Chris’s expertise as we put a spotlight on the most significant issues affecting our region.
